    The inspiration

    During his first year home after 22 weeks in hospital, Lawson was minimally conscious, tube fed & emaciated. There were milestone moments - he turned his head on command, his left side slowly gained movement, he tried to write his name & when handed a brush dipped in paint, Lawson drew these illuminating shapes.
